With the release of Kendrick Lamar’s Good Kid M.a.a.d. City album it hit me that with the upcoming release of A$AP ROCKY’s and Meek Mill’s album means that the underground music sense may be over as we know it. Think about it over the last few years the heavyweights of the Underground were Drake, J.Cole Wale, Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, Meek Mill, Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky and Big Sean. Soon all of these artists would have entered the mainstream, while I’m sure they will still bless the underground with mix tapes. It’s kind of like an absentee pops dropping gifts off on Christmas, its cool we appreciate it but it’s just not the same lol.

Well I can’t lie I’m excited to see that they are receiving mainstream popularity and making the money they deserve to, it does leave the question “WHO’S NEXT?” lingering. A couple of young talents that I suspect as taking the game over is Joey Bada$$, Angel Haze, Stalley and Hit-Boy. While I’m sad to watch this class of Underground Rappers go I’m also patiently waiting to see what upcoming rappers do with it now. While Joey Bada$$ already got off to a good start with his 1999 mixtape, lets see if he could keep it up and if his peers can live up to the standards.
